A 100-point credit score jump is possible — but not for everyone, and not instantly. The borrowers who pull it off share a specific pattern. If you're starting between 500 and 650, this playbook is for you. If you're already above 700, 100 more points is possible but takes much longer.
Where 100-point gains are most achievable
Thin-file and sub-prime borrowers see the largest jumps because the baseline is low and the math is more sensitive. From a 540 starting point, moving to 640 is realistic within 9–12 months. From a 720 start, 100 points means hitting 820 — which only about 20% of U.S. consumers ever reach.
The 90-day quick-win moves
Pull your three bureau reports. Free, weekly, at annualcreditreport.com. Look for errors — collections you don't recognize, accounts with wrong balances, old items that should have aged off.
Dispute every inaccurate negative item. In writing, certified mail, with proof. Under FCRA the bureau has 30 days to respond.
Pay down revolving balances before the statement closes. This is the single highest-leverage utilization move. Target under 10% per card.
Open a positive installment tradeline. If you don't already have one, the Kovo Credit Builder adds installment history and reports to all 4 major bureaus.
Stop applying for new credit. Every hard inquiry costs points. Zero applications for 6 months.
The 6-month compounding moves
Set every payment to auto-pay. One missed payment can undo 60+ points of work.
Keep old cards open. Closing drops your average account age and shrinks total available credit.
Add a second tradeline type. If you have revolving, add installment. If installment, add revolving. Credit mix is 10% of your FICO® score.
Pay down existing collections for "pay for delete" where allowed. Not every collector will agree, but it's worth asking in writing.
What NOT to do
Pay for "credit repair" services that promise to erase accurate negative items. They can't legally do it, and the process is free to do yourself.
Open a bunch of secured cards at once — each one is a hard pull.

A 100-point climb comes from four or five small habits practiced for twelve months, not from one magic action. The habits are boring. That's why they work.
